Earn reward $$$!Fall Tax School Referral Program

You and your colleagues can attend Fall Tax School and get rewarded for doing so!

Who can refer? You! Anyone reading this can refer a new customer to Fall Tax School.

Who can be referred? Anyone who has not attended Fall Tax School within the past 3 years (e.g., for 2017 Fall Tax School, last attended in 2013 or earlier) can be referred. The referrer and the person being referred cannot be the same person... meaning, you cannot refer yourself.

What offerings does this apply to? Currently, referrals made for the 2017 Fall Tax School Seminar are eligible for a $20 reward per referral. Referral rewards earned in 2017 can be redeemed and applied to any 2018 seminar registration fee. Fall Tax School webinars are NOT eligible to earn referral rewards.

What is the timeline? Referrals can be made beginning in July 2017. Referrals for 2017 will be accepted until Fall Tax School registration closes in mid-December. Once the referrals are reviewed and validated in mid-2018, you will receive a reward coupon code totaling $20 for each successful referral, redeemable for any 2018 seminar. Any unredeemed Referral rewards will expire at the end of December 2018.

How does it work? When you refer someone who has not attended Fall Tax School seminar within the past 3 years, and they register for the 2017 Fall Tax School seminar using your referral code, both you and that colleague will receive a $20 reward that can be redeemed towards any 2018 seminar. The reward is earned for each colleague that you refer, and there is no limit to the amount of referral rewards you can earn.

Where can I find my personal referral code? Your personal referral code is included in various marketing emails sent out starting in July. It will also be printed on Fall Tax School brochures that will be mailed to you in August. If you cannot find your referral code you can log into your online account and your referral code is shown on the main account screen as shown below. If you are not an existing Tax School customer and wish to refer someone, you must create an account online and a referral code will instantly be created for you.

What steps do I take?

  1. If you have not already attended a Tax School seminar, create an account on the Tax School website (having a Tax School account with a valid email address is required in order to receive any referral rewards).
  2. Identify colleagues who have never attended Fall Tax School seminar, or have not attended Fall Tax School since 2013.
  3. Give your colleague your personal referral code (PRC). The PRC is printed on the address portion of your Fall Tax School brochure or listed in the email you received from Tax School.
  4. Ask them to register for and attend the 2017 Fall Tax School seminar. The PRC is entered either through the online registration process or on the printed order form when your colleagues register for Tax School. Your colleague must provide your PRC at the time of registration. Referral codes may not be applied after the registration order is completed.
  5. You may refer as many colleagues as you wish. You will earn a reward for each eligible colleague who registers for Fall Tax School and who does not cancel.

When do I get my referral reward?

  1. Early in 2018, the Tax School office will validate all 2017 referral registrations. A valid referral registration is defined as a completed registration by an eligible colleague that was not cancelled and refunded. If the colleague cancels, the referrer does not earn a reward.
  2. Between April and July of 2018, referrers and their colleagues will be notified by email and provided a coupon code. The code may be applied to any 2018 seminars offered by University of Illinois Tax School.
  3. Keep this coupon code for redemption during our 2018 seminar season. Referral rewards earned in 2017 must be used for seminars occurring before December 31, 2018. Unused referral rewards expire at the end of 2018. If the referral reward exceeds the cost of the registration fees in a single transaction, any unused portion is forfeited. Referral rewards can only be redeemed once.
  4. If you lose your redemption coupon code, feel free to call the Tax School Office at 217-333-0502 for assistance.

U of I Tax School Referral Program Terms and Conditions

  1. General. These terms and conditions apply to the Tax School at the University of Illinois (“Tax School”) Referral Program (”Program”). An individual Referrer who receives a referral code from a Tax School mailing may refer another individual (“Recipient”) to a Fall Tax School seminar, which will constitute a “Referral” under the Program. Individuals who participate in this program (“Participants”) agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

  2. Program Participation and Eligibility. The Program is only applicable to registrations by eligible Recipients who provide a referral code from an eligible Referrer for the upcoming Fall Tax School seminar (“Qualifying Seminar”). An eligible Recipient is an individual who has not attended a Fall Tax School seminar within the 3 years prior and who registers for the Qualifying Seminar by mail, fax, in person, or online. An eligible Referrer is an individual who has received a Tax School email or brochure containing a unique referral code. To be eligible, Referrer need not be registered in a current year Fall Tax School seminar and need not have ever registered for a Tax School seminar. Referrer and Recipient cannot be the same person.

An individual who is a Referrer or a Recipient and participates in a Qualifying Seminar will receive a credit (Referral Reward) to be redeemed towards a Tax School Seminar held during the following calendar year if (a) the individual has created an account at the University of Illinois Tax School website (located at https://taxschool.illinois.edu/) and has a valid and current email on file when the Tax School begins the Verification Process described elsewhere in these Terms and Conditions; (b) the Recipient and Referrer are both eligible; (c) Recipient has registered for a Qualifying Seminar; (d) Recipient provides a Referrer’s unique referral code at the time of registration; and (e) Recipient does not cancel or transfer the registration for which the referral code was provided. Referral codes may not be applied after a registration has been mailed, faxed, completed in person, or submitted online by Recipient.

  3. Webinars. Fall Tax School webinars are not part of the Program and referral rewards cannot be earned for referring a Recipient who registers for a Fall Tax School webinar.

  4. Referral Rewards. In January through March, or as soon as is practicable during each calendar year, the Tax School verifies (“Verification Process”) which previous year referrals qualify for Referral Rewards (“Qualifying Referrals”) under Tax School Referral Program Terms and Conditions (“Terms and Conditions”). Between April and July, a Referral Reward certificate and associated redemption code (“Certificate”) will be sent to Referrers and Recipients who participated in verified Qualifying Referrals during the previous calendar year and who have provided a valid email as required elsewhere in these Terms and Conditions. Certificates will entitle the Recipient to a credit representing the aggregate sum of all Referral Rewards that the Recipient earned in the prior year, where each Referral Reward increases the credit by $20. An individual’s Certificate may only be redeemed to offset the cost of a single purchase transaction towards registration for seminars offered by the Tax School during the year of the Certificate issuance. If the Referral Reward exceeds the total registration transaction amount, any unused portion of the Referral Reward is forfeited. The Tax School reserves the right to require that Participants use specific registration methods in order to redeem Referral Rewards. Certificates may only be redeemed once and expire at the end of the calendar year in which they are issued. Certificates are nontransferable, have no cash value, and may not be redeemed for merchandise.

Participants agree to provide truthful information in conjunction with the Program.

Employees of the University of Illinois (“University”) are not permitted to participate in the Program.

Tax School reserves the right to void any Referral Reward based on any of the following: (a) ineligibility of Recipient; (b) fraudulent or illegal activity or inaccurate information provided by the Referrer or Recipient in association with the Program; (c) any finding by the Tax School, in its sole discretion, that Referrer or Recipient has violated any of these Tax School Referral Program Terms and Conditions; or (d) any factor or factors which cause the Tax School to determine in its sole discretion that it is impossible for the Tax School to honor the Referral Rewards, including but not limited to loss of Referral Reward data due to any cause, or cancellation of Tax School seminars. Determination of eligibility and qualifying referrals, as well as any exceptions, are at the sole discretion of the Tax School. Certificates will be sent to the email provided by Referrer or Recipient as described elsewhere in these Terms and Conditions.

  5. Additional Terms and Conditions. Tax School reserves the sole right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Program at any time without prior notice. Tax School retains sole discretion and authority to interpret all aspects of the Program including, but not limited to, criteria, eligibility, the size of Referral Rewards and whether Certificates will be issued. Participation in the Program is prohibited where void by applicable law or regulation. Tax School in its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify any person from participation in the Program. Tax School is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, inaccurate, or misdirected Certificates and is under no obligation to provide replacement Certificates. The Tax School may not issue Certificates to individuals who provide a valid email address only after the Verification Process has been initiated.

Participants agree to release and hold harmless the University, including its directors, officers, employees, consultants, and agents, and any other person or entity associated with, this Program, from any and all claims or damages arising out of, or in connection with the Program. In no event will University be liable for any consequential, incidental, or special damages, including any lost profits or lost savings arising out of Program (even if University or the Tax School has been advised of the possibility of such damages), or for any claim by any third party. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other state laws. If any provision of this Agreement is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent possible, and the other provisions contained herein will remain in full force and effect. The failure by Tax School to insist upon or enforce strict performance of any Terms or Conditions of the Program shall not be construed as a waiver of any provision or right. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between Participants and Tax School with respect to the Program. Claims may not be resolved through any form of class action.
