We want to share an update on the unsolicited “forgot password” emails some customers received on 4/2/26 between approximately 10:30 am and 1:30 pm CT.

We are working closely with the University of Illinois technology, infrastructure, and security teams to investigate what occurred.

  • At this time, we have no evidence to suggest that any data was exposed. Our system contains limited personal information such as names and addresses. It does not store any payment or financial information.
  • The password recovery emails you have received are legitimate system-generated messages. They contain no malicious content or harmful links. If you received one of these emails and did not request it, you may safely ignore or delete it. No further action is required.

We are continuing to investigate the incident and are reviewing our systems to strengthen protections around our password recovery process to prevent future incidents.

Given the extreme stress you’re already under in the final sprint of filing season, we sincerely apologize for the added concern. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
